ROTARY CLUB OF PARAÑAQUE MIDTOWN
CLUB HISTORY
The seeds of the Rotary Club of Parañaque Midtown were planted in December of 2002, when the club was first conceptualized by CP Lina Hilario of the Rotary Club of Parañaque Metro. The prospective members would be taken from the ranks of sons & daughters of Rotarians, former Rotaractors and their friends. The idea is mainly to create a young club, bursting with energy and the will to serve. The essence of fellowship and service appealed to the Charter Members especially when CP Lina Hilario told them that, “You will honor your parents when you accept to be Rotarians yourselves.” And so, these young men & women made a decision to join the club & be rotarians themselves.
It was during the time of Loving Governor Romeo V. Cruz and Loving Pres Baby Vale of RC Pque Metro, that the First Organizational Meeting happened on Feb 12, 2003 at the Toho Restaurant under the guidance of RCPque Metro & Metro South, the 2 clubs whom they considered as their parents in District 3830.
On June 27, 2003, the Charter of the Club was approved by Rotary International under the sponsorship of RCPque Metro. It took a while, and the Charter President was found in the person of Dr. Ruben “Jayjay” S. Hilario III, and nineteen other charter members who were inducted on September 27, 2003 at UCPB Executive Offices, Makati City.
The weekly organization meetings started on Wednesdays at the Toho Restaurant, owned by one of the charter members. But consequently the meetings was moved to Thursday w/ a new venue Café Veranda w/ an increasing new members. As time goes by, the club transferred to numerous venues – Pro Health Café, Rumpa, El Delicioso & Carlos Pizza, due to unavoidable circumstances. But now, regular club meetings are being held at Galley Grill Restaurant in BF Parañaque City.
With five good presidents the club already had- from Star Pres Jay Hilario Centennial Pres Andy Fernandez, Serving Pres G-boy Manansala, Lead Pres Archie Jimenez, to Sharing Pres Jovy Peralta, the club has now grown to be strong, united & dedicated in fulfilling the district’s goals each rotary year, & in carrying out the rotary motto- “Service Above Self.”
